Ulta Haul February 2016

So I know it’s no longer February, and it’s pretty much the middle of March.  BUT, I like to buy items and try them out for a while before telling you what I think.  I feel like I always instantly like or dislike something, but you never know how it really works till after you’ve used it a few weeks or tried it out a lot. So I’m sitting on my bed, listening to Eric Church, and writing this for y’all.  First thing, what did people do before laptops?! Secondly, Eric and makeup don’t exactly go hand in hand.  But, it works for me, so it could work for you!

So here’s what all I got…

IMG_98591. Not Your Mother’s Just Give Me Some Volume Volumizing Hair Powder

2. L’Oreal Ever Pure Repair Remedy Mask

3. Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lacquer in You Took My Love

4. It Brushes for Ulta Airbrush line (Powder Wand No. 108, Radiance Fan No. 116, and Blurring Concealer No. 103)

Not Your Mother’s Just Give Me Some Volume Volumizing Hair Powder

I have bought several volumizing hair powders over the years, one was really expensive and it worked and the other was even more expensive and didn’t do crap for my hair.  This one is really cheap, it’s $5.99 at Ulta AND they currently have buy 1 get 1 50% off online! (This sale is probably in stores too!) I will say the one thing I HATE about hair powders are how they make your hair feel.  But, this is how they all work.  However, I accidentally dumped about 1/3 of this bottle into my hair last night (my fault) and my hair feels GROSS!  Soooooo I wouldn’t recommend to any of y’all to do that! My fairly clean hair is going to have to be washed again and I’ve started dreading washing my hair!

Online it says, “This powerful powder is the fastest way to maximize volume and add texture directly to dry hair. Say buh-bye to your ho-hum hair because this salon formula will have you and your hair large and in charge!” It definitely can get it large and in charge! Maybe sometimes a little too large and a little too in charge.  But, if this is a great expensive way to try a hair powder out! I would definitely recommended this! I got mine at Ulta, but I know they have it at Target, Wal-Mart, and Amazon.

L’Oreal Ever Pure Repair Remedy Mask

I’ve been wanting to try a hair mask for a while and I was looking at the higher end ones and I just wasn’t ready to fork out the $20 plus dollars for one.  So if you have one between $10-$20 that you love, let me know!

Online it says, ” EverPure Repair & Defend is our first sulfate-free color-care system for damaged, color-treated hair. Infused with Acai, Goji and a UV Filter, the Antioxidant Complex repairs and strengthens hair while helping keep color pure. Remedy Mask is a restorative hair mask treatment for highly damaged, weakened hair. Our exclusive formula with Antioxidant Complex deeply penetrates to help repair, strengthen and polish every strand.”

I don’t tend to dye my hair often, but I did recently dye it a shiny black. (I occasionally want to look like a Salem witch.)   But, it is more of a natural black currently (or blue and purple according to a 7 year old in my life…)  So I thought a mask would help keep the dye from damaging my hair. I tend to have really healthy hair, but it’s started breaking on one side recently.

I like this product, but I don’t love it. It does make my hair feel super soft (like baby hair!,) but it also makes my hair greasy.  I learned the hard way, the first time, that I used way too much and you could have fired some chicken on my hair in a day or two!  I read online that a lot of people use it several times a week and I definitely can’t do that, I don’t know how they do! I use it now maybe once a week to every week and a half and that seems to be a good fit for me. It’s not too much and no chicken grease hair anymore.  I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this.  BUT, if you are dying to try it, I got it at Ulta for $8.99. I know they have this on Amazon and I’m sure they have it at Target and Wal-Mart as well.

Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lacquer in You Took My Love

So let me start with how I got this product, I went into our crappy ass tiny Sephora in JCPenney’s and I wanted this color by Tarte.

And the lady kept trying to sell me and convince me that this was the same color.

Clearly, they are not the same! So I was aggravated and left. A few days later I went to our local Ulta and they were out of the Tarte color I wanted, but they had the tester.

The Tarte colors are the ones smeared all on the right side of my hand. BUT, the one on the left bottom is the Makeup Revolution.  Makeup Revolution is a pretty new (or at least new to me brand.) I don’t know the quality of all their products, but this lip product has some damn good staying power!  However, it is hard to apply evenly and it eventually cracks and crumbles. Granted it was ONLY $5… I wanted a bold, pink lip and that’s what I got.  I think if I was to test out another one, I would get a more neutral color. (Granted, I just went and looked and they don’t really have a neutral color! They have a peach, hot pink, red, lavender, dark berry, and chocolate color.) So never mind with that…

Online it says,

  • Goes on as a liquid and dries matte
  • Touch proof and long-wearing
  • Intense color

It definitely dries matte! It’s definitely touch proof and lasts forever! (It just doesn’t hold up the best.) And the color is bold! So they weren’t lying at all.  I however, wouldn’t really recommend this.  If you want to play around with some colors, sure, but this wouldn’t be my go to for a matte liquid lip.

This product will run you a whole whopping $5 at Ulta. They have a website, but I’ve never even looked at it, except to get the link.

It Brushes for Ulta

I have become kind of obsessive with these brushes and about 75% of the brushes I use daily are from this line.  (Thanks Kim for making me feel yours! It’s got me hooked!)

They have 3 lines:

Airbrush finish, synthetic, cruelty-free, anti-microbial hair
Lightweight, durable, makeup bag friendly design
Rounded comfort handle makes it easy to grip

Live Beauty Fully
• Award-winning, IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe® ultra soft, synthetic hair
• Silver streamlined handle is weighted for controlled application
• Each artisan-crafted brush is designed to feel like a work of art.

Velvet Luxe
Ultra-dense, micro-fine, cruelty-free, anti-microbial optical blurring hair
Custom-molded, soft-touch grip for maximum control
Ergonomic handle designed for ultimate comfort application

Airbrush is the least expensive if the 3 lines, but I wouldn’t say they are the cheap.  I have been impressed with the quality and how these brushes work! I would highly recommend them.  I believe I own 7 now and it’s been a gradual build.  This is the only time I’ve bought 3 at once, I usually buy them one at a time. (I wish I could just buy them all at once, but my bank account just won’t let me!)

I’ll start with the brush on the left in the above picture.

Blurring Concealer No. 103 – Let me be honest and say I’ve never used this brush for concealer.  I actually bought this brush because they don’t have a setting brush in their line and I wanted something to set my under eye powder with.  I figured if I didn’t like it for setting the under eye, I would use it for concealer.  BUT, I have love it so much for setting the powder under my eye that I haven’t even tried it for anything else.

Online it says, “Fluffy rounded tip ideal for covering small hard to reach areas like inner eye corners and around nose. Use with your favorite liquid or cream concealer. Smooth, soft bristles are designed for the delicate under eye skin area and conceal on skin imperfections. Dense, rounded tip easily reaches small areas, as well as large areas. Deposits the perfect amount of product, even those that are highly pigmented!” So I think they just convinced me to actually try this with concealer tomorrow!

This brush will cost you $16 at Ulta. I use to cringe at brush prices, but they are an investment! Take care of them and they will last for forever! I use the It Brush Bath in between the hardcore Purity bath they get every few weeks.

Radiance Fan No. 116 – I remember that I  got some cheap mega brush set a few years ago and in it I got a large and small fan brush, except I didn’t even know what to do with them.  I remember asking Chrissy, her explaining them,  and me thinking that was stupid.  Fast forward a few years, and I’m kind of obsessed with highlighters, so a fan brush is your new best friend! I lost the big fan brush I had (Actually, I think one of my cats stole it.) and the small fan brush just sucked.  So I invested in this bad boy and haven’t looked back. I like my eyes to glitter, I like my cheeks to put a circus clown to shame, and I like my highlighter to look like a strobe light. (I think I missed my calling for drag…) Anyway, this brush will make your highlight on fleek and I highly recommend it!!!

Online it says, “Airy fluffy fan brush head dusts and sets powder without taking off makeup underneath! Use with your favorite highlighter, bronzer and blush. Airy brush head dusts and sets powder without taking off makeup underneath! Perfect also for removing eye shadow fallout and great for applying highlighter precisely.”

You can get this bad boy only at Ulta and it will cost you $18.

Powder Wand No. 108 – This is the one brush I’m probably meh about. Does it do it’s job, yes.  Is it soft, yes. Is it amazing, no. Does it suck, no. I don’t think this brush is amazing by any means.  I use it everyday and I like it, but I don’t love it.  I think I would probably invest in their larger powder brushes.  However, I think this brush would make a great bronzer brush!

Online it says, “Large fluffy rounded head is great for distributing powder across the entire face and décolleté. Use with your favorite loose and pressed powders. Designed to grab the perfect amount of any powder, it’s the magic behind the ultimate soft-focused complexion.” I would disagree with the designed to grab the perfect amount of any powder statement, because sometimes I really have to dig in to get powder on my brush.

It’s a good brush, but it isn’t great.  If you want to check it out or purchase it, it’s only available at Ulta and will cost you $26.

Sorry this was so long guys!  I should definitely have another blog post later this week, and I’m serious about it this time.  I hope you all are having a great week and remember to keep those in Louisiana in your thoughts and prayers.  The flooding is so damn heartbreaking and there could be more in the near future.

Like always, let me know what you think below in the comments or email me.  I would love to know some of you favorite hair masks, powder brushes, and liquid lipsticks!

Moodstruck Precision Pencil Lipliner and Precision Eyelash Curler

In this blog I will be talking to you about 2 (technically 6) Younique products.  I stayed off the Younique train for a really LONG time.  I won’t lie to you, I think the 9,000 Facebook parties and invites I got were what did me in!  I love makeup! I love makeup recommendations! I love trying new products! However, I don’t like new products shoved down my throat. And when someone tries to sell you something, because they 100% LOVE everything they sell, they are LYING! Let’s be honest, I know you all have another makeup brand swimming around your makeup drawer!  And I bet everyone has a Maybelline mascara hidden somewhere too! (Because who doesn’t own at least ONE Maybelline mascara?!)

Anyway, one of my dear friends, Jeanne, is a Younique Presenter and she has sold me on some of their products.  I love the way she runs her business and how she tells you the truth! (If you are interested in seeing what she has to offer, just click her name above!)

Welcome to the lovely land of AMAZING lip liners! I’m pretty new to the lip liner world.  It’s one of those makeup products that I stayed away from for FOREVER! For some reason I lived in a land where I thought lip liner and lipstick (or lip gloss) had to match…WRONG! Baby, I will slap 2 of the most bazaar colors on now! Sometimes I just wear lip liner… This stuff is amazing with lipstick, lip gloss, or just by itself!

They currently only have 5 colors, but I’m going to need them to come out with more!  Because, I need (Ok…really want) then ALLLLL!  Does anyone know why they all start with a P? (If you do, let me know in the comments!)

In case you didn’t believe me, here are my 5.  I got Posh, Pompous, and Pouty in November.

(Top to bottom: Pompous, Pouty, and Posh.)

Pompous is dark purple, almost like a dark red wine color.  This makes for a very dramatic evening looking lip. This lip liner is almost a little Gothic, without being all black for me.

Pouty is the perfect nude liner, with just a touch of pink.  This looks great under a pale nude lipstick or even a pale pink gloss.  It’s also great if you just wear the liner for a nude lip. Perfect for everyday use!  This lip liner screams responsible, big girl, and I don’t want everyone staring at my lips, but I want them to look GOOD!

Posh is just the right mixture of a purple with a hot pink! I thought this was my favorite till I tried Perky! I love this bright lip liner with a paler lipstick, so the liner really shines through.  Out of all my liners, this is the one I have had to sharpen the most. This lip liner says mature and responsible to me.

(Top to bottom: Perky and Primal.) I got these 2 in February.

I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE Perky! I have recently become obsessed with bright pink lips!  I have no clue why.  I never wear bright lips to work, but I will rock them on the weekend. Anyway, this is my favorite!!!  Is it the most practical, definitely not.  I would say Posh and Pouty would win the practical, everyday award.  But, this is you clubbing sister, that only comes out on the weekends and she comes out STRONG!

Primal is the color I have used the least.  I HATE red lipstick with orange undertones.  So I am always looking for the perfect red lipstick (and lip liners) with more of a blue or purple undertone. While this product is good, I can’t say I use it often.  I just don’t wear red, unless it is clothing. When I wear a red lip 99% of the time, I feel like a clown or Miranda Sings. I don’t know why, I just do!  But, this lipstick definitely screams SEXY to me!

(This being Miranda Sings.)

I wanted to compared these Younique liners with my NYX liner.

NYX lipliner in SPL817 Hot Red is on top.

Younique lip liner in Primal is on bottom.

These were the 2 most similar colors that I had.

This is what happened when I rubbed the 2 colors.  The NYX smudged and faded, while the Younique stayed in place. So just imagine that happening on your lips!

Anyway, if you think you are interested, you should definitely check out Jeanne’s page or find a local Younique Presenter near you! Get all 5, or at least 1, and try them out! Do you have a favorite lip liner or brand? Let me know in the comments below!

Now on to the second, but technically sixth, product.

THIS!  I believe this was an add on product for purchases in January through Younique, it MAY have been December… I can’t remember.  Anyway, I could hardly find anything about it online or even in an image search.  BUT, I know that it will be available for purchase in March!

I have always hated eyelash curlers!  When going through my make up yesterday, I found 3.  I found a cheap one, a Revlon one, and one I bought at Ulta.  I thought this one would be something I would never get any use out of, but I was wrong.  I use this bad boy almost daily and I LOVE it!

While it is made extremely similar to all the ones I own, the major difference is it is spring loaded!  I don’t know if it is made different and I just can’t tell.  Maybe the padding is thicker.  BUT, I know the spring is different.  My other curlers don’t really do anything or very little to my lashes, but this does! It curls them all, it doesn’t pinch my eyelids, and it doesn’t leave that weird crimped mark in your lashes.  It is the perfect tool to add to your makeup drawer! I have no clue how much this will be when it’s available in March but, I’m assuming around $20.

If you want to try this curler or the lip liners check out Jeanne’s Younique page or find a local Presenter near you! I hope you all are having a great week!  I would to hear from you and your comments on the products above! Feel free to leave any questions you have below or e-mail me!

January 2016 Ipsy

How many of you get Ipsy each much?  I feel like 90% of the female population would raise their hands, maybe even more.  Who doesn’t love seeing that pink, shiny package in their mailbox?! I love getting my goodies each and every month.  Some months are great, some months suck, and some are just so so.  BUT, it lets me try out a slew of makeup and beauty products, branch out of my confront zone, and is only $10 a month!

If you haven’t signed up and are interested just go to Ipsy! It’s quick, simple, and easy.

This month my 5 products were:

  1. Trestique Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Florence Fig
  2. The Balm Mr. Write (Now) eyeliner pencil in Jac
  3. Ofra eyebrow pencil in Universal
  4. City Color eyeshadow trio in Falling Leaves
  5. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion

From top to bottom this is the:

  1. Trestique lip crayon
  2. The Balm eyeliner
  3. Ofra eyebrow pencil

Trestique Lip Crayon in Florence Fig

Let me just say, I love this lip crayon! I own another by this brand and I really love it to!  They are easy to apply, stay on the lips, pigmented, and they smell great! I also have 2 of the minis in Chile Red.  (I believe they came in the November 2015 Ipsy.)

Full size this product will run you $28 and comes with a lip balm.  You can get it off of the Trestique website.

The Balm Mr. Write (Now) eyeliner pencil in Jac

I have a few shadows by The Balm, but I have never ventured into their eyeliners.  I’m picky about eyeliners, I love my Urban Decay and I love my Benefit, I do not stray too often from them.  ALSO, I would never typically by a coppery/gold color!  BUT, I will admit this is very pretty.  Will I wear it everyday, probably not.  But, it will get used.  This stuff goes on easy, lasts, doesn’t smudge, but I wouldn’t buy it in this color again. Now if it was black, gray, or brown; I would totally do it!

I won’t lie, I love most of The Balm’s names and packaging.  They are funny and cleaver. I’ve been impressed with their eyeshadow as well! Anyway, you can purchase this eyeliner on The Balm’s website.  They have 8 different colors and it will cost $17.

Ofra Eyebrow Pencil in Universal

I won’t lie, this is what I was the most excited about and the most disappointed in! People rave about their liquid lipsticks, which I haven’t tried out, yet. Sooooo I was super excited to try out something of theirs! Boyyyyyy did this product blow! This pencil is called Universal because it is suppose to be universal for everyone.  The color is great, for me, but I think it would be way too dark on a fair skin, blonde person.  Also, when putting this on all it did was cake up and make a sticky mess. I literally felt like I had rubbed honey all over my eyebrows! I will not be buying this and I would not recommend it!

However, if you want to try it, you can get it at the Ofra website and it will cost you $13 for a stick of brown eyebrow honey.

City Color Eyeshadow Trio in Falling Leaves

I won’t lie, I dislike getting eyeshadow in my Ipsy about 90% of the time.  I love my Urban Decay and they usually just can’t even compare. Anyway, I did not have high hopes or high expectations in this trio and I wasn’t surprised when the pigmentation sucked and it easily brushed off.

The brown was the only decent color in the 3.  The matte, brunt orange color brushed off with one stroke.  The pale nude color lasted maybe 2 minutes.  The brown colors lasted longer, but it also had a lot of fall out and drifted on my eyelids.  I tried these with and without primer.  I would not recommend these and I will not be purchasing them.  However, if you want to give them a whirl (and waste your money) you can get it on the City Colors website for $5.99. But please, don’t waste your money!

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

I honestly don’t feel like there is a lot to say about this.  I like Aveeno.  I like lotion.  I love small lotions that I can throw in my purse.  This will definitely get used and it will probably be purchased again in my future.  I’m always buying lotion.  You can get this lotion anywhere! CVS, Wal-Mart, Target, Ulta, Amazon.

So that’s it for my Janaury Ipsy bag!  This post was suppose to be up yesterday, but that just didn’t happen.  Let me know what you get in your Ipsy and if you liked it or not! Also, I would love to hear from you!  Feel free to leave me a comment or email me!

Power of Love Natural Lipstick

Look at these colors!  LOOK at these colors!  My first thoughts were pretty, warm reds, it’s a lippie stick not a true lipstick – allllllllll things I love! I got Nudie Red and was given Tender Heart, and I was so excited.

These things smell like a nasty, gross shoe that has been sitting outside in the rain for a week. I have tried to wear BOTH of these several times and I just can not do it.  When I put them on, the smell is so darn intense and then I start worrying that everyone else can smell my smelly shoe lipstick too!

Also, these 2 colors look completely different online, but in person are almost identical.

Top – Nudie Red

Bottom – Tender Heart

These lipsticks cost $10.  You can get them on the Pacifica website or Target (online and in store.) BUT, please don’t waste your money!  If you want these, I will donate mine, unless they get dumped into the trash beforehand.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far and I will see you with a new blog post in a few days.  Remember to like and follow my blog!  If you have any questions or experiences with this product leave them in the comments below or feel free to email me!
