Ulta Purchases

A few weaknesses in my life are Dr. Pepper, cats, popcorn, the snooze button, and Ulta.  I love me some Ulta.  I think they know me by name…  Now I won’t lie, there are very few people at my local Ulta that are friendly and I will seek out for help, most are about as helpful as a doorknob.  However, I love the Ulta rewards program!  So I keep going back!

Recently I went in to get a new foundation.  I was originally purchasing the Too Faced Born This Way foundation.  My friend, Chrissy, really liked it and I had read awesome reviews about it online.  However, it was a little to full coverage for me!  Chrissy says it applies great with a beauty blender and evens out, so I will probably try it in the future.  I also looked at foundations from Tarte, Stilla, and Becca.  I accidentally grabbed the wrong color in Becca and looked like I applied melted chocolate all over my hand… OOPS! I was avoiding the Urban Decay section like the plague! BUT, it sucked me in, like always!  I tried this foundation and it was my favorite.  It’s light, airy, and doesn’t even feel like you are wearing anything on your skin.  The packaging says weightless and it truly is!  My color shade is 4.5 and it is perfect!

This foundation comes in 18 different colors.  I originally thought I was a 4 (medium-light shade, with golden olive undertones,) but it’s a little too yellow under toned for me, so 4.5 (medium-light beige with rose undertones) was perfect! I would highly recommend this product! Go into your local Ulta or Sephora and give it a shot!

This product is $40 and you can purchase it online at Urban Decay, Sephora, or Ulta.

Now onto the second item purchase, the Purity cleanser by Philosophy. Let me first give a shout out to my cousin, Sarah Ann, for getting me addicted… Just what I needed another expensive beauty item… BUT, I love it! And she totally knew it was something I would love when she gave me the travel bottle in my Christmas present. Now, this mega bottle is $36.  Pricey, I know!  I can feel y’all cringing through the computer screens! They do have a travel size which is 3oz for $11, 8oz for $24, and the 16oz for $36.  So the 16oz is the best value, but get the 3oz and see if you like it before the big time commitment.

I love this stuff!!! I use it every single day.  I’m horrible about taking my make up off before a bath or shower, so I want a cleanser that will do that for me and this does! (Who likes those racoon eyes when getting out of a shower?!)  It removes everything, including my waterproof mascaras and eyeliners! It has a good, fresh smell.  I also use this to wash my face before bed, if I’m just removing my make up.  BUT, the best discovery with it is cleaning out my make up brushes.  I give all my make up brushes a monthly bath and I used this last month.  This worked better than any cleaner I’ve bought, made, or even baby shampoo.  It removed everything, didn’t leave a weird texture on the brushes, and made the brushes smell amazing!

I would highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this cleanser!  I know it’s pricy, but you will thank me!  (Just like I have been thanking Sarah Ann!) You can purchase this online at Ulta, Sephora, Amazon, and the Philosophy website.

I would love to hear what some of your new and favorite purchases have been!  Feel free to comment below or email me!

January 2016 Ipsy

How many of you get Ipsy each much?  I feel like 90% of the female population would raise their hands, maybe even more.  Who doesn’t love seeing that pink, shiny package in their mailbox?! I love getting my goodies each and every month.  Some months are great, some months suck, and some are just so so.  BUT, it lets me try out a slew of makeup and beauty products, branch out of my confront zone, and is only $10 a month!

If you haven’t signed up and are interested just go to Ipsy! It’s quick, simple, and easy.

This month my 5 products were:

  1. Trestique Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Florence Fig
  2. The Balm Mr. Write (Now) eyeliner pencil in Jac
  3. Ofra eyebrow pencil in Universal
  4. City Color eyeshadow trio in Falling Leaves
  5. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion

From top to bottom this is the:

  1. Trestique lip crayon
  2. The Balm eyeliner
  3. Ofra eyebrow pencil

Trestique Lip Crayon in Florence Fig

Let me just say, I love this lip crayon! I own another by this brand and I really love it to!  They are easy to apply, stay on the lips, pigmented, and they smell great! I also have 2 of the minis in Chile Red.  (I believe they came in the November 2015 Ipsy.)

Full size this product will run you $28 and comes with a lip balm.  You can get it off of the Trestique website.

The Balm Mr. Write (Now) eyeliner pencil in Jac

I have a few shadows by The Balm, but I have never ventured into their eyeliners.  I’m picky about eyeliners, I love my Urban Decay and I love my Benefit, I do not stray too often from them.  ALSO, I would never typically by a coppery/gold color!  BUT, I will admit this is very pretty.  Will I wear it everyday, probably not.  But, it will get used.  This stuff goes on easy, lasts, doesn’t smudge, but I wouldn’t buy it in this color again. Now if it was black, gray, or brown; I would totally do it!

I won’t lie, I love most of The Balm’s names and packaging.  They are funny and cleaver. I’ve been impressed with their eyeshadow as well! Anyway, you can purchase this eyeliner on The Balm’s website.  They have 8 different colors and it will cost $17.

Ofra Eyebrow Pencil in Universal

I won’t lie, this is what I was the most excited about and the most disappointed in! People rave about their liquid lipsticks, which I haven’t tried out, yet. Sooooo I was super excited to try out something of theirs! Boyyyyyy did this product blow! This pencil is called Universal because it is suppose to be universal for everyone.  The color is great, for me, but I think it would be way too dark on a fair skin, blonde person.  Also, when putting this on all it did was cake up and make a sticky mess. I literally felt like I had rubbed honey all over my eyebrows! I will not be buying this and I would not recommend it!

However, if you want to try it, you can get it at the Ofra website and it will cost you $13 for a stick of brown eyebrow honey.

City Color Eyeshadow Trio in Falling Leaves

I won’t lie, I dislike getting eyeshadow in my Ipsy about 90% of the time.  I love my Urban Decay and they usually just can’t even compare. Anyway, I did not have high hopes or high expectations in this trio and I wasn’t surprised when the pigmentation sucked and it easily brushed off.

The brown was the only decent color in the 3.  The matte, brunt orange color brushed off with one stroke.  The pale nude color lasted maybe 2 minutes.  The brown colors lasted longer, but it also had a lot of fall out and drifted on my eyelids.  I tried these with and without primer.  I would not recommend these and I will not be purchasing them.  However, if you want to give them a whirl (and waste your money) you can get it on the City Colors website for $5.99. But please, don’t waste your money!

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

I honestly don’t feel like there is a lot to say about this.  I like Aveeno.  I like lotion.  I love small lotions that I can throw in my purse.  This will definitely get used and it will probably be purchased again in my future.  I’m always buying lotion.  You can get this lotion anywhere! CVS, Wal-Mart, Target, Ulta, Amazon.

So that’s it for my Janaury Ipsy bag!  This post was suppose to be up yesterday, but that just didn’t happen.  Let me know what you get in your Ipsy and if you liked it or not! Also, I would love to hear from you!  Feel free to leave me a comment or email me!

Power of Love Natural Lipstick

Look at these colors!  LOOK at these colors!  My first thoughts were pretty, warm reds, it’s a lippie stick not a true lipstick – allllllllll things I love! I got Nudie Red and was given Tender Heart, and I was so excited.

These things smell like a nasty, gross shoe that has been sitting outside in the rain for a week. I have tried to wear BOTH of these several times and I just can not do it.  When I put them on, the smell is so darn intense and then I start worrying that everyone else can smell my smelly shoe lipstick too!

Also, these 2 colors look completely different online, but in person are almost identical.

Top – Nudie Red

Bottom – Tender Heart

These lipsticks cost $10.  You can get them on the Pacifica website or Target (online and in store.) BUT, please don’t waste your money!  If you want these, I will donate mine, unless they get dumped into the trash beforehand.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far and I will see you with a new blog post in a few days.  Remember to like and follow my blog!  If you have any questions or experiences with this product leave them in the comments below or feel free to email me!

Top 6 of 2015 – Part 2

Here is the second part of my Top 6 of 2015! I’m doing this while attempting to paint my fingernails, so we shall see how this goes! (More like how the nails go…)

Younique 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara

So I won’t lie, I was not on the Younique train for the longest time!  I avoided it. I thought it was a gimmick.  I thought it was stupid.  And I really found most of the presenters extremely annoying (Sorry!)  But, then my friend, Jeanne, turned me around.  She gave me one of the old formula duos and I was addicted, once I figured it out.  I won’t lie, applying these fibers and gel has a learning curve.  BUT, once you get the hang of it, watch out lashes! This duo will cost you $29, which is around the price of most high end mascaras. My lashes have never been so long and full!  Check out Jeanne’s Younique site and go buy some mascara!

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo & Conditioner

I won’t lie, this shampoo and conditioner has changed my hair’s life! It has never been this shiny, healthy, and rich looking! It is a mixture of tea tree oil, lavender, and peppermint oil. It will leave you scalp tingling, literally! Sarah Ann, I should buy you some giant bottles just for suggesting this to me!

You have to check this shampoo and conditioner out!  There is a whole line of products on the Paul Mitchell website, but I’ve only tried the shampoo and conditioner.  I get mine at Ulta. One, because of the rewards system.  Two, because I’ve only ever bought it on sale.  Either buy 2, get 1 free or their liter sale. ***Ulta has their $33 liters on sale for $21.99 until January, 23.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer

(That is a mouthful!)

Lets be honest, I know none of y’all are shocked that an Urban Decay product made this list.  I am a die hard Urban Decay junkie!  Their eye shadows are my favorite!  But, anyway, back to this amazing concealer.  This stuff is amazing! (Can I say amazing anymore?!)  At the end of the day my foundation may have rubbed off, but my concealer will still be going strong!  I wear Medium Light Neutral and it is the best!  Before, I tried this one I never like any concealer that I tried.  They would smear, ball up, or get all caked under my eye, but not this bad boy!!! I put it under my eyes, on the crease of my nose, and up the bridge of my nose and then I blend it out with a beauty blender. Try it!  You will not regret it!

You can get it at Urban Decay, Ulta, and Sephora.  It will cost you $28.  I bought some last March and just had to replace it in December, so it lasts!

I would love to know y’alls top 5, 6, or even 1 beauty product of 2015! Feel free to comment below or email me!

Top 6 of 2015

Soooooo this post started out as my Top 5 of 2015, except I got stuck.  I narrowed my list down to 6 and just could not delete it down anymore.  So y’all are getting a bonus item! *insert happy dance here* The items listed below are in no particular order.  Since I did not take a decent picture of them when purchasing the items, I am going to post pictures form the sellers websites and where you can purchase them. I know some of these items were not released in 2015, BUT 2015 is when I discovered them.  Consider that your disclaimer!

The Beauty Blender

NOW I know this sponge costs $20.  I know that is expensive for a sponge.  BUT, it is worth EVERY FREAKING penny!  I honestly would pay $40… I bought my first Beauty Blender in March or April of 2015.  Originally I was going to go with a cheaper one at Ulta and the girl told me to walk over to Sephora and buy the original.  When a salesperson tells you to go somewhere else to buy something, you listen! I know there are 10,000 knock offs, most have really crappy reviews, but I would maybe be willing to give some of them a shot.  (For the purposes of this blog and all that jazz.) Anyway, back to my thoughts, I bought my first blender last spring and I just recently trashed it.  It probably could have lasted longer, but I was pretty lazy with cleaning it, so that’s all my fault.  I got a new one for Christmas (Thanks Gee!) and decided I would start using it at the beginning of 2016, so we will see how long it lasts.  That is with frequent cleaning! This is where you can purchase your Beauty Blender! I know they come in black, pink, and white.  I have seen the minis in green, but I’ve never tried them.  Also, they had red, at one point in time. This sponge is great for apply foundation, BUT it is my go to for concealer. I will apply my concealer under my eyes, crease of my nose, up the middle of my nose, and draw a flower on my forehead and this baby pats it out sooooo evenly!  There are no lines, there are no creases, there is nothing, except beautifully even concealer.

Now if you want to try something similar and less expensive, Real Techniques has a Miracle Complexion Sponge for $6.99 at Ulta. *Currently they are buy 1, get 1 free on the Ulta website, just click the link above.

Champagne Pop

2015 was the year of highlighters! You highlight the tops of your cheeks, your nose, your cupid’s bow, you highlight everything! #highlightonfleek

Anyway, I was slow to get on the highlight train. I’ve highlighted for years, but I have always used a pale pink blush, not a champagne, gold, or even white color.  PEOPLE, what rock was I under?!?! This product is $38, and only sold at Sephora.  It was limited edition, but Becca just announced last week that it would not be going anywhere! *insert happy dance* I know this item is pricey, but it is near impossible to finish this container.  This compact will last you YEARS!

This is my compact of Champagne Pop, I’ve had it since the beginning of October and it looks like I’ve barely touched it. I apply it to the tops of my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose, my cupid’s bow, and right under my eyebrows.

Baby's got blue eyes

I don’t typically apply highlighter on my chin because it sticks out so far as it, but do as you please.  You can always ease into it!  Start with the top of your cheeks, until you feel comfortable, and then move on.

Becca has several amazing Shimmering Skin Perfectors (highlighters) on their website.

Moonstone – pale gold

Opal – golden opal gold

Topaz – golden bronze pearl

Champagne gold – soft warm gold

Rose gold – soft gold infused with rose tones

Now they have 2 highlighters I can on find at Sephora

Pearl – soft luminescent white

Champagne pop – soft white gold with pinky peach undertones

Try them out!  Let me know what you think about them in the comments below!

Anastasia Brow Powder Duo

I will be the first to tell you, I hate my eyebrows! They grow like a weed, they are bushy, and I could put Bert to shame with a uni brow in the matter of a week! BUT, this product has made me actually like my eyebrows!  Sometimes, miracles can really happen.

I got this at Sephora in Dallas.  I went in to purchase Champagne Pop and asked the girl what she would recommend for eyebrows, she suggested this and applied it.  I was instantly sold! It is $23, but my brows stay on alllllll damn day!

This is only the second product I’ve bought form Anastasia Beverly Hills, but I have been impressed so far.  This company seems to have really boomed in 2015!  They have good eye shadows, liquid lipsticks, but I think their brow products are the best.

They have 11 different shades, mine is in dark brown.  I won’t lie, I like the web site set up on Sephora way better than the actual company website.  Also, I apply the brow powder with a Sephora Pro Brow 20 brush.

Try it out and let me know what you think in the comments below!

***I know I said this would be 6 items, but since this post is going to be so long, I decided to post 3 today and then the rest tomorrow or early this week.  Happy blogging and if you have any questions leave them in the comments below or email me!

So I tried really hard to think of a catchy saying, slag, or just anything for my first post here, but all you got was “Welcome.” However, it seems the most fitting out of anything and everything I could pull from my brain.  Welcome to my blog, welcome into my home, welcome into my thoughts, and welcome to my opinions.

I’m writing this blog mainly about makeup and similar products.  Grammar is not my thing!  So back away now if you are going to be the grammar police!  Unless you plan to edit all my posts for free, hush, and consider yourself warned.

I was a tom boy growing up.  A tom boy obsessed with Barbie dolls, to be exact.  I remember being in high school and asking my “twin” cousin where in the world you put eyeliner.  I was clueless! I was still clueless about make up through my early 20’s.  Then one day my friend, Chrissy, recommended the Naked palette to me and little did she know.  She opened a beast!  A caged animal on the loose at any Ulta, Sephora, or cosmetics section.  I love all make up!  I’ve become a make up snob… And eyeshadow palettes have become my bitch! I love palettes! The bigger, the better!  The more sparkle, the better! Who needs just 1, when you can have 12?!

So here’s to some laughs, some opinions, some sparkle, and some good times!
